About The Opportunity 

You'll be part of a dynamic team responsible for the day-to-day operation of the security infrastructure, keeping a close eye on security events, and responding effectively. You'll be involved in designing, implementing, monitoring, and supporting IT security toolsets, tackling complex issues in a large-scale enterprise hybrid environment. The role is a mix of BAU and project work, including Azure security projects (with a strong M365 focus), automation, and ensuring new applications are deployed securely. It's an exciting time to join as the organisation is undergoing large-scale transformation and IT maturity improvements. 

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include: 

  • Helping to build and mature Microsoft Security practices using the Azure M365 stack and E5 capabilities.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness and coverage of security products and tooling to continuously monitor and protect assets.
  • Identifying, mitigating, and managing security threats, vulnerabilities, and risks.
  • Working closely with the managed security operation centre.
  • Assessing and responding to external threat intelligence reports.
  • Conducting internal audits of security controls.
  • Supporting ISO27001, NIST, Cyber Essentials Plus, and other audit programmes.
  • Providing support and guidance within IT and the wider business to ensure policy compliance.
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Implementing and improving technical processes for efficient and secure methodologies.
  • Supporting the management and investigation of security events, including post-incident reviews.
  • Developing awareness materials to improve the security culture.
  • Researching security enhancements and making recommendations.
  • Staying current on information technology trends and security standards. 

Who We're Looking For 

We are seeking a candidate with solid technical IT Security experience. 

Experience & Expertise: 

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar technical IT Security role for a medium to large enterprise.
  • Demonstrable specific M365 experience is essential (Sharepoint Online, Purview, InTune, Defender, Sentinel, Azure AD/Entra).
  • Knowledge & understanding of security principles across: SIEM, Antivirus, DLP, Firewalls, Open Source Filtering tools, Cloud security (Azure), EDR, Scanning/vulnerability tools, IdAM (PAM).
  • Experience working with a SOC is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Windows Servers and Linux Servers.
  • Familiarity with Endpoint and network security technologies.
  • Knowledge of IT Security and Governance best practices and industry standards (ISO27001, NIST, Cyber Essentials etc).
  • Strong understanding of technical security risk, threat, and vulnerability management principles.
  • Ability to drive own workload, identifying risks and requirements, and working flexibly. 

Qualifications: 

  • Recognised IT or Information Security qualifications (Cisco, SANS, ISO27001, CCSP, CISA, or SSCP) desirable.
  • AZ500, SC200, SC900 desirable.
  • CEH desirable.

You'll assist in designing, implementing, monitoring, and supporting IT security systems, often tackling complex issues.   • Familiarity with Windows Server & Networking.

  • Awareness of IT Security and Governance best practices.
  • Strong understanding of technical security risk, threat, and vulnerability management principles.

About The Opportunity 

As an integral member of a dedicated IT Security team, you'll be instrumental in designing, implementing, monitoring, and supporting robust IT security systems. This role encompasses both business-as-usual operations and exciting project-based work, with a particular emphasis on Microsoft M365 and Azure security initiatives, automation, and ensuring the secure deployment of new applications. Our client is currently in a period of large-scale transformation and continuous IT Security maturity improvements. 

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include: 

  • Architecting and technically leading the implementation of security improvement solutions.
  • Collaborating closely with other IT architecture teams to develop secure solutions.
  • Acquiring and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of security products and services, advocating for their adoption.
  • Continuously enhancing knowledge regarding security aspects of common technologies.
  • Providing proactive mentoring and guidance to other IT teams to foster security skills.
  • Designing and implementing critical security controls aligned with regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus).

  • Effectively communicating highly technical information to non-technical colleagues.

Who We're Looking For 

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in Information Technology and a proven track record in security architecture. 

Experience & Expertise: 

  • Demonstrable expertise in Information Technology, operating at a senior level.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing Enterprise Security Strategies.
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing security solutions through to operational handover, particularly in multi-supplier and multi-platform environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of security principles across: SIEM, Antivirus, DLP, Firewalls, Cloud security (Azure), IDAM (PAM on-prem/cloud), EDR, and Scanning/vulnerability tools.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server & Networking, expertise in secure network design, and experience with Incident Response and Endpoint & Network Security Technologies.
  • Expertise with the Microsoft Azure platform, including designing security architecture and standards, and reviewing security measures for enterprise SaaS/web applications on Azure.
  • Knowledge of technical infrastructure across multiple IT domains (UNIX, Platform, Database, Networks).
  • Awareness of market and industry trends, and familiarity with IT Security and Governance best practices. 

Qualifications: 

  • ITIL qualified.
  • Recognised IT or Information Security qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, Cisco, SANS, ISO27001, CCSP, CISA, or SSCP are highly desirable.
  • A relevant degree qualification is desirable but not essential.
